If only every day was my birthday!

For those looking to spoil their special someone on a day, whether it be a birthday, valentines day or an anniversary, take note from the expert – my leading man.

Weeks ago when Matt mentioned the idea of spending the night at a luxurious hotel in the city, I had my leave form signed and sealed. The idea of sleeping in, sipping on tea all day and being able to stay up late without feeling big-day-at-work-tomorrow guilt had masses of appeal.

So I started my birthday, as you do, with my final present, earrings from Tiffany & co. Matt did an amazing job picking all my presents (ok, I may have hinted a tiny bit!). But Matt put the thought an effort into the style of my present which I really appreciate.

Not in any rush, I decided to get my hair cut and straightened (I can tell you are thinking, ‘wow that haircut is lovely!’ Don’t worry, I won’t judge you for not noticing, I had as little as possible cut off!). A little pampering goes a long way in ensuring you feel relaxed on your special day! A shout out to the lovely Amy Lee at Fox and the Hair who did an awesome job.

Next was the leisurely drive up to our hotel – the Sheraton on the Park, Sydney. We have revisited quite a few times as we can never find fault with this hotel. We always feel spoilt, the hotel is immaculate and so close to everything in the CBD.

Not sparing any expenses, Matt booked an executive club suite, with pre-dinner drinks, a luxurious room and a park view. I was just stoked to be able to have a relaxing bath! Matt settled in well, declaring, ‘I think we can move in here, I can work from here and the Internet is fine.’ Internet, to him, is oxygen!

So to add to the treats we decided to go to Jamie’s Italian for dinner. Getting in just before the dinner rush, we had a smorgasbord of ravioli nachos (to die for!), pasta, breads and cocktails. As you can see I loved the cocktails. We finished the dinner with a delicious raspberry and choc brownie, which was turned into a birthday masterpiece! As I’m sure you are all wondering, the writing was made of butterscotch toffee, and yes, it was divine to dip the brownie in it!

We finished our night with a couple of drinks, oysters (for Matt), macaroons and tea at the Sheraton’s Executive Club. Nothing makes you feel more special than finishing your night waited on with endless food. With good food waistlines grow, I say!

So until tomorrow, hope you all begin planning how you can be spoilt or spoil someone on their special day!
